We Build Just About Any Software Your Business Needs — Tested by Default

Decades of real production experience, now amplified by AI, mean languages and frameworks are no longer barriers to a “yes.” Heavy test automation keeps quality high and bugs fixed fast. The result: better, faster, and cheaper than you’d expect — without lowering the bar.

Reporting from the Limit Break studio Filed under: PHP, Laravel, Rails, Vue, React & whatever you’ve got

There is a tired story that good software must be slow, expensive, and fragile — pick two, and pray. Limit Break exists to retire that story. We are a boutique studio with a long memory: we were shipping production systems back when “the cloud” meant the weather, and we never stopped caring about the boring parts — correctness, tests, and a deploy that doesn’t page you at 3 a.m.

What changed is leverage. AI lets us move across stacks without lowering our standards: a PHP shop one week, a Go CLI the next, a Rails rescue after that. The judgment is still ours; the typing is just faster. So when a client asks whether we “do React, or is it more of a Laravel thing,” the honest answer is usually: yes, and the test suite comes free.

That last part is not a flourish. Every engagement ships with an automated test suite handed over as a first-class artifact — yours to keep, run, and extend. We treat QA as a deliverable, not a courtesy, because tests are how “it works on my machine” becomes “it works in production, and we can prove it.”

We will also tell you straight. If a project genuinely needs a specialist we aren’t — a design-led brand system, say, or a cost-sensitive AWS build the size of a small city — we’ll say so, and point you somewhere honest. The answer is sometimes “not us.” That, too, is the service.

Rates negotiable. Honesty included at no extra charge. Reply to hello@limitbreak.dev.

§ Web & Product Engineering

Full-stack work across modern and legacy. PHP / Laravel / WordPress is the comfort zone; Ruby / Rails on request; Vue, React, and Tailwind for the front. Old codebases revived, not just tolerated.

Wanted: a stack. Any stack.

§ APIs, Backends & SDKs

Full backends with queues and background jobs, OpenAPI specs, and robust CLIs and SDKs in multiple languages. Documentation that reads well for humans and AI alike.

Built for machines and people.

§ DevOps & Automation

CI/CD, GitHub Actions & Dependabot configured securely, deployment automation, and dev tooling in bash and Go. Reproducible infra-as-code at sane scale, with Cloudflare, CDN & DNS sorted and hardened.

No 3 a.m. pages, ideally.

§ Testing & Performance

Automated test suites handed over as a free artifact. Manual and automated QA, plus caching and database optimization to make existing apps faster — no rewrite required.

Quality, on the house.

§ Security & the Vibe Check

Code, architecture, security & dependency reviews. We clean up the AI slop and take it from “made localhost:8000 this weekend, bro” to production-ready. Audits and forensic analysis when things get spicy.

See Section C, below.

§ CMS & Migrations

WordPress installs, custom plugins and themes, host-to-host and CMS-to-CMS migrations done without losing the furniture. Ongoing maintenance and scaling as demand grows.

Movers who keep the boxes labeled.

§ Mobile Apps

Straightforward CRUD apps for the “we need an app” brief — clean, maintainable, and shipped. Not games, not exotic camera wizardry, just the app you actually asked for.

An app. The real kind.

§ AI & Claude Automation

Bring your own Claude subscription; we automate the workflows around it. MCPs and connectors set up and demystified, so the AI you’re already paying for finally earns its keep.

Make the robot approachable.

§ Notice to Readers

We’ll tell you straight, even when the answer is “not us.” Cluster-scale AWS, design-led brand work, and old-school SEO are scoped carefully — or referred onward. No bluffing on this masthead.

Editorial integrity, free.

Section A · The Method

How We Work

Three principles, set in type, that don’t move when the deadline does.

01

AI as Leverage,
Not a Crutch

AI removes the language barrier; it doesn’t remove the engineer. We use it to move faster across stacks while the architecture, the security calls, and the “is this actually a good idea” judgment stay firmly human.

02

Tested by Default,
Yours to Keep

Every build leaves with an automated test suite wired into CI — a free artifact, not a line item. Heavy automation is how we stay confident the work is right and how bugs get fixed fast when they do appear.

03

Or We’ll Teach
Your Team

Rather own it in-house? We’ll set up the tooling, the tests, and the guardrails, then coach your people until they can fly without us. Hand-off is a feature, not a threat to the invoice.

Section C · Special Feature

The “Vibe Check”: From Weekend Hack to Production

A field guide to rescuing code that was shipped on vibes alone

It always starts the same way. Someone — maybe an eager founder, maybe an over-caffeinated intern — “made localhost:8000 this weekend, bro,” and now it’s somehow running the business. The demo works. The deploy is a laptop under a desk. The tests do not, strictly speaking, exist.

We do not judge. We do a Vibe Check: a structured review of the code, the architecture, the security posture, and the dependency tree. We find the landmines, rank them by how loudly they’ll go off, and then quietly defuse them — refactoring AI slop into something a future human can read, adding the tests that should have been there, and hardening the doors someone left wide open.

You keep your momentum; you lose the cold sweat. By the end, “it works on my machine” has become “it works in production, it’s under version control, and there’s a green check that says so.”

Opinion · Op-Ed

Goodbye,
SaaS.

An editorial

Most businesses overpay for software built for the average of a million strangers. You bend your workflow to fit the tool, then pay monthly for the privilege. It does not have to be this way. With AI as leverage and real engineering judgment in the chair, custom software is finally cheap enough to be the sensible choice — not the luxury one.

We build tools that fit your business, that you actually own, that stay secure, and that evolve as you and the AI tooling do. No seat-based ransom. No feature you’ll never use subsidizing a feature you desperately need. Just the software you asked for, tested and handed over.

The catch — and we’ll always tell you the catch — is that some off-the-shelf products really are the right call. When that’s true, we’ll say so. The point isn’t to sell you custom code. It’s to stop you renting the wrong thing forever.

Section D · The Studio

About the Desk

Limit Break is a boutique studio that has been doing this properly since long before AI was a headline. The craft is old; the tools are new. We pair decades of hard-won production experience with modern automation so we can take on work that would once have meant “sorry, not our language.”

We’re small on purpose. That means the people who scope your work are the people who build it, and the people who build it are the people who’ll answer when something breaks. No handoff to a junior bench, no account manager translating telephone-game requirements into a tragedy.

What we promise is unglamorous and rare: we’ll do it right the first time, we’ll leave you the tests, and we’ll tell you the truth about scope, cost, and fit — even when the truth costs us the job. Better, faster, cheaper, and honest. Read all about it.
